"Chelsea have given permission for Eidur Gudjohnsen to travel to Spain for talks with Barcleona," Chelsea said on the club's official Web site. "An agreement between all parties is still pending."
Gudjohnsen, 27, has scored 86 goals in 263 appearances for Chelsea but his future at the club has been in doubt since the arrival of Ukraine's World Cup striker Andriy Shevchenko from AC Milan for a club record fee.
If he does sign for Barcelona, Gudjohnsen will replace Henrik Larsson after the Swede's return to hometown club Helsingborg.
