Heather: I am NOT a hooker
12/06/06
The estranged wife of Beatles legend Sir Paul McCartney said the claims were completely false and were intended to cause the maximum hurt for her.

Lady McCartney, 38, has been rocked by a series of allegations about her past since she and Sir Paul, 63, announced their separation last month.

Last week photographs purporting to show her starring in a pornographic video were published. Yesterday the latest claims, linking her to a wealthy vice ring, appeared.

Lady McCartney, who heads an anti-landmine charity, has long been subject to rumours about her allegedly murky past. According to her detractors, the former model has fabricated large parts of her background.

Recently, she began using her own website to refute allegations. The latest claims allege that, for several years, she was a high-class prostitute charging thousands of pounds.

According to one Sunday newspaper, Heather Mills – as she was then – had an elite clientele, including billionaire businessmen and even an Arab prince.

She was also accused of taking part in a threesome with another prostitute and a Saudi royal for £5,000 and boasting of how she could make up to £10,000 a night.

However, a statement issued by her lawyers last night read: "Heather Mills McCartney strongly denies the allegations in today’s News of the World.

"These are not new stories and were refuted by her lawyers four years ago when first raised. The sources clearly are a variety of unreliable persons who have been paid for these stories.

"The timing of the article is clearly designed to cause maximum hurt to Heather, her husband and family at this sensitive time."

The strain of the past few weeks has clearly been taking its toll. Pictured on a beach in East Sussex with her daughter, Lady McCartney looked gaunt.

A close friend said: "Heather is going through an incredibly tough time. She has been deeply affected by the split from Paul and to have everything else heaped on her is very difficult but she desperately wants to remain positive for the sake of her daughter, who always will be her number one priority."

The McCartneys married in 2002. Their daughter Beatrice was born the following October. But their relationship was soon dogged by rumours of family rifts and suggestions that Sir Paul’s children from his first marriage to Linda McCartney did not approve.

Problems came to the surface in the marriage earlier this year when it emerged that the couple had been spending an increasing amount of time apart. Initially they denied rumours that there was anything wrong in the marriage, but last month finally admitted that they were to separate.

Their split raises the possibility of a massive divorce battle, with Sir Paul worth an estimated £825million. However, law experts claim the allegations about her past, if true, could reduce the amount she could successfully claim.
