Hugh Jackman's the iconic man - not Russell Crowe |
|
|
On the subject of Russell Crowe, it appears that even his old friends have fallen out of love with their one-time poster boy.
Recently we told you how Baz Luhrmann snubbed Crowe in favour of Heath Ledger. "Before I could tell them what I thought of the script, they'd moved on," said Crowe. "That was their choice."
Later he returned, cap in hand saying he would do it after all. By then it was too late.
Now Ledger has left the project as well - but rather than offer it again to Crowe, Luhrmann has instead gone to Hugh Jackman. "'He continues to astound in terms of his range," says Luhrmann. "He's always been a leading man, but he is moving towards being an iconic leading man."
More importantly, he doesn't have a reputation of being aggressive and temperamental like some people we could mention.
