Hollywood hunk Tom Cruise has been compared to Nazi propaganda chief Joseph Goebbels.
German historian Guido Knopp has likened a speech Cruise made to Scientology members to Goebbels� call for "total war" in 1943.
Cruise, 45, appears on the promotional video and asks fellow church members: "Should we clean this place up?"
Knopp, 59, said: "Tom Cruise�s manner calls to mind Goebbels."
He added: "It is possible that the way in which Cruise speaks is common in many empowerment circles in the US.
"But the scene in which Cruise asks if the Scientologists should clean up the world and they all respond �yes� will remind any German with an interest in history of Goebbels� infamous Sports Palace speech."
Scientology officials said his comments were "horrendous and disgraceful." Cruise plays a Nazi colonel in his latest movie Valkyrie.
